Great cast...twist on a "Whodunnit!"This book has an amazing cast of characters, and is good for nearly all ages. The author has put great detail into the townsfolk, and you will feel like you know them all personally.
Lulu is a feisty little girl, who will remind everyone of their own childhood adventures. Plus, a good twist on the conventional murder mystery. It's not the same old "Whodunnit!" The reader is told about a dead body in the beginning. You learn throughout the book that several townspeople have a certain tatoo like the dead man, and you can't help but wonder, "Who IS it?" instead of Whodunnit!
This book is a good length. Not too long...and can be read within a few nights.
The first in a series, I believe....

Muskrat Will Be Swimming
Published in Hardcover by Rising Moon (May, 1996)
Average review score:

Girl finds pride in herself and her heritageI love this book and so does my six year old son. Very sensitively deals with namecalling. The young girl's grandfather sees that she is upset and by telling her a native amercian tale helps her find pride in her heritage and herself. Weaves together the present day story of the girl with the folktale very well.

Mysterious Islands: Forgotten Tales of the Great Lakes
Published in Paperback by Lynx Images Inc. (October, 1999)
Average review score:

picked it up, couldn't put it downThere are those of us from the Great Lakes region who become infected with these sweetwater seas--and I am one of them. The Great Lakes offer so much in the area of recreation in swimming, fishing, boating and just watching. They also offer much in stories and tales of people, places and events on or by the water.
I was accompanying my son on a grade school field trip and came across this book in a gift store. I picked it up and found that I could not put it down...so I bought it and read it straight thru.
This book is filled with the people and events that occured on many of the islands that exist in this lake system. Stories of people and places that are rarely found in our history books, or at most hinted at.
This book is a must have for anyone who collects tales of the Great Lakes.

New River Gorge and Summersville Lake Rock Climbers' Guidebook
Published in Paperback by KCP (01 June, 1999)
Average review score:

New River Gorge Climbing GuidesThis is the best book out there for climbing at the New River and Summersville Lake. Very informative and easy to use. You can't get lost using it. Lots of maps and good descriptions. If you are going to do any climbing at this area, I highly recommend this book! I've used Cater's book and Thompson's and this one is the way to go and another thing, it is cheaper!

News from Lake Wobegon: Summer: Stories from the Collection
Published in Audio CD by HighBridge Company (May, 1997)
Average review score:

Summer classics from Lake WobegonAmongst the wonderful "News from Lake Wobegon" collections, this stands high as a personal favourite. Apart from the classic "Lving Flag" and "Tomato Butt", "The Tollefson Boy goes to College" and "Mrs Berge and the Schubert Carillon Piano" [with brilliant impersonations of the carillon piano] are strong, mixing acute observation of the humour, tedium and sadness of everyday life with just enough exaggeration to provide comic relief.
The text is addled with cliche's and semi-intelligent banter between characters. This is supassed only by the narrative which, at times, has the characters defying the laws of physics.
This is a MUST READ!
